Troubleshooting

Plate heat exchanger troubleshooting

When a unit isn’t delivering the temperatures it should, is leaking, or is costing more to run, the first job is to find out why.

Overview

Diagnosis before parts

Poor performance can come from the exchanger itself — fouling, damaged plates, incorrect compression — or from the system around it: flows, temperatures and control settings that no longer match the original design.

Troubleshooting separates the two. We look at the unit, its operating data and its original configuration, so the fix addresses the cause rather than the symptom.

Warning signs

When to call us

  • Outlet temperature not reaching setpoint
  • Pressure drop higher than design
  • Leaks that return after tightening
  • Capacity lost after a process change
  • Rising energy or pumping costs
  • Two identical units performing differently

Condition of the unit and its installation.

02

Operating data review

Flows, temperatures and pressures compared with the design duty.

03

Configuration check

The unit’s data used to verify its original configuration.

04

Recommendations

Cleaning, regasketing, plate changes or other actions, explained in plain terms.

Our process

How the job runs

  1. Describe the symptoms

  • Brazed plate units (assessment and replacement selection)

FAQ

Common questions

What information helps you diagnose a problem?
