When a unit or plate pack needs more than a wipe-over, bringing it back to our Granville workshop is the most thorough way to return it to its original condition.
Overview
A controlled strip-down, not a site patch-up
Back-to-base servicing means the plate pack — and the frame if needed — comes to our workshop. Every plate is removed, cleaned and checked individually, rather than cleaned as a closed pack or inspected only from the outside.
Working in the workshop gives us the space, equipment and time to deal with scale, biological fouling and hardened deposits properly, to find cracks and pinholes before they cause cross-contamination, and to fit new gaskets in a clean environment.
It is also the natural point to decide what the unit needs next: a straightforward re-gasket, some replacement plates, or a conversation about whether the duty has changed.

What a workshop service covers

Receive and disassemble
The plate pack is opened, plates are removed in order and their positions recorded so the pack goes back exactly as it came out.

Acid wash and high-pressure clean
Scale and deposits are removed from every plate, including the port areas and gasket grooves that are hard to reach in situ.

Crack testing
Plates are crack-tested to find cracks and pinholes that allow the two media to mix.

Re-gasketing
Old gaskets are removed and new gaskets fitted to suit your media and operating temperature.

Rebuild and test
The pack is reassembled to the correct plate arrangement and tightened, then tested before it leaves us.

Service report
You receive a written report covering the work done, component condition and our recommendations.

Common questions
How do I get my unit to your workshop?
You can deliver the unit or plate pack to our Granville workshop, or we can discuss collection when you book. Tell us where the unit is and roughly what it weighs.
Do you replace every gasket?
When a pack is fully re-gasketed, yes. Where only some gaskets are damaged we’ll explain the options, but mixing old and new gaskets in one pack is rarely a good long-term fix.
What if plates are cracked?
We’ll show you what we found and quote replacement plates before fitting them. Cracked plates should not go back into service.
Can you service a unit from another manufacturer?
We service gasketed units from many common makes. Send us the nameplate details and we’ll confirm.
Will I get a report?
Yes. Every workshop job comes back with a service report covering the work done, the condition of the components and our recommendations.
